What is this document about?
- Hydrostatic (pressure) Testing is an industry accepted method to confirm mechanical integrity of pipework or equipment by confirming ability to contain water at pressure. Poor welding and connection will give way to leakage of water from the system.
- Pressure vessel and piping would require attendance of Statutory Authorities to witness the hydrostatic tests. For non-pressure piping, the test is to ensure there is no leak when line pressure is applied.
- This procedure is written for the operators and steps through each process of setting up and testing the equipment. Helpfull practical guidelines gained from years of experience are included.
- The report will form one of the acceptance criteria for the mechanical work or installation qualification. This process is one of the components of a Project Quality System (see flowchart below)
